Trying to save a zip file from the standard mail client on my Nexus 4 (running Android 4.4.2):

Unfortunately, you can't save or open this type of attachment

How come? With an earlier version, on a Galaxy Nexus the message is (sic):

You cant save or open this file because this type of attachment might contain malicious software

It is well known, of course, that jpeg, pdf and other types of file cannot carry malicious payload.

Yet, the best comes now. I recently installed my own trusted CA on this phone. Here is the warning I get regularly:

Network may be monitored

By an unknown third party

A third party is capable of monitoring your network activity, including emails , apps and secure websites.

A trusted credential installed on your device is making this possible.

By that, they surely mean that the other third parties are known, so it must be fine. I guess. The first credential on the phone's "system" store is from Türktrust, isn't that nice? At least, the interface allows to easily disable it.
